Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman

This is a story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things in time of war. At the beginning of Word War II, there were approximately 380,000 Jews in Warsaw.. Most did not survive the war, but the zookeeper and his wife, Antonina, were able to save about 300 by hiding them in the abandoned cages, underground tunnels and their home at the zoo. An amazing story of courage and survival.
