Black Ships by Jo Graham

Ten years after the fall of Troy, Gull is born a slave to a Trojan woman and an unknown Greek warrior. After Gull’s leg is crushed in an accident, she is apprenticed to a seer. Using her own powers of prophesy she leads the remnants of Troy to become the founders of Rome.

I loved this book! I picked it up expecting the typical Fantasy tale but soon started saying "this sounds like the Aeneid!" and was so delighted that that was the writer's intent. Too many people today do not know the classics and this book makes The Aeneid very accessible.
