Told in alternating chapters, this compelling memoir recounts the harrowing experiences of an eleven year old plane crash survivor and his unconventional childhood growing up on the beaches and ski slopes of California. Ollestad’s honest and gritty exploration of his sometimes disturbing childhood, his devoted, loving relationship with his father and the chilling reality of the deadly plane crash are blended into an inspiring tale of courage and love.

I don't normally like nonfiction, but this was an interesting read and kept me turning the pages.

If you read this book, be prepared for lots of profanity and accounts of a young boy witnessing sexual acts.
