HENRY’S SISTERS by Cathy Lamb

When Isabelle and Janie Bommarito, hear that their domineering mother is going in for open heart surgery, they must forget the trauma of their childhood and take care of their mother, their demented grandmother, and their handicapped brother, Henry. This finely pitched family melodrama has enough gallows humor and idiosyncratic characters to make it irresistible.

This book is a painful journey. In the end it every one grows because of where they have been but it is hard to get there. I am finished an I am still not sure if I liked it or not. It is hard to imagine that many bad things happening to one family. I love the message that "No one's normal." It resonated deeply with me. Everyone has issues and pain, it is what you do to overcome it that counts.

This is an incredible book! The trials, loss, saddness may seem a bit unlikely...But believe me it is possible. The love for one speial needs brother, son and friend can truly reunite a family, community and make your faith stronger. The language and details may seem inappropriate, just appreiciate the story!
