This is a fun, historical-paranormal-mystery fiction. The writing is sound, and I liked the characters. It kept me engaged. Sure, the main character gets himself beat up every night, which could get tiring for some readers. (There's no bad language here, and the sex scenes are glossed over and not detailed.)
